Goal Setting Part Three - Time

In the last post, we focused on the R in SMART goal setting - Realistic.

Today our focus will be on the T - Time (Timely, Time oriented, Timeline)

When you first came in to enroll in Skills Tutor, did you have a Target Date for when you would like to complete the program and retake the TABE? If you did, that was the first step in T.

Now I want you to consider that the Target Date was only the beginning. With your target date in mind, you should have thought about how much work you needed to complete in this timeframe. If you only had to raise your score one grade level, you probably didn't need to do much work in Skills Tutor. If your goal was for reading, that probably meant getting one or two more answers correct on the TABE. To do this, you should concentrate on the Skills Lessons in Reading Comprehension B or C, whichever you were told to do. If your goal was for math, that probably meant getting two or three more answers correct on the TABE. To do this, you should concentrate on those areas that you know you didn't know - probably slowing down on the basic computation of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers, fractions, and decimals (found in Math B).

Since Skills Tutor lessons take approximately 10-15 minutes each, doing only the lessons I outlined above would take about 2 hours for the reading and 4 hours for the math.
